No one is expecting a Michelin Star establishment residing in your local shopping centre. What you do expect is a humble café with heart and soul and the Lunch Club has that in spades. An unassuming restaurant sitting in the centre of Unley Shopping Centre, the Lunch Club is all about producing a comforting atmosphere and a friendly environment. A business can’t survive on vibes alone though. To go along with this is a diverse menu that caters for breakfast, lunch, dessert and any kind of bite that you would like with your morning coffee. Here I have covered a couple of my favourite dishes and breakdown just what makes the Lunch Club great.
The first thing you’ll notice about the Lunch Club menu is their range. From Salmon Florentine to Chicken Parmigiana and even Spinach and Mushroom Risotto, their selection goes beyond your ordinary café fare to provide a real experience with their breadth of options. So, whether you’re after a small snack or a long lunch, The Lunch Club has you covered but let’s get more into detail.
What’s the best way to start the day? That’s right, breakfast. To start off things with a bang I went for the Lunch Clubs Egg Benedict. A breakfast staple but where this one comes into its own is with content. In fact, this is something you could say about all the dishes here and that is you always get a good feed. From the eggs, ham, sauce and everything in between the portions are generous. Which means you get more of what is, hands down, an amazing dish. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day so why skimp on it.
From those who know the establishment better than I do, I’ve been told their Vietnamese Chicken Salad is a local favourite and now I know why. Want something fresh, healthy and full of flavour? Then this is your go–to. With vermicelli noodles, grilled chicken, shredded carrot and cucumber, coriander and of course the Nuoc Cham dressing. This is the epitome of the salad that is both healthy and satisfying and again generous on the portions. This dish can be enjoyed anytime of the day and is suitable in any given situation.
We always leave the sweetest to last so what else could it be other than dessert. The Lunch Club dessert bar is loaded with freshly made treats and cakes to tempt you. From cookies, to cheesecake and muffins and scones. You want it, they got it. The standout that comes to mind is the Mango Cheesecake. A distinctive mango flavour which is all kinds of sweet and tangy to get your tastebuds melting. This is the devilish dessert. For those of you wanting something a bit more muted their Banana Bread is still delightful without being nearly as sweet.
If you get the picture now you should see that The Lunch Club is the eatery that is well deserving of its place in the Unley Shopping Centre. It’s well supported, has plenty of fans and is looking to be around for many years to come. With that in mind if you’re still not fully convinced then you have plenty of time to head to the Lunch Club now and let the friendly staff there convince you themselves.
